This meeting is intended to bring together stakeholders in the tree improvement community to share perspectives and information on the potential impact of forest genetics & tree improvement on the carbon offsets market. Tremendous gains in productivity and value have been created through the development and deployment of genetically improved seedlings in the southeastern United States. What impact will this have on developing carbon markets & projects? Should the southern tree improvement community adjust research objectives and priorities to address the issue of carbon?

This tour offered an excellent opportunity for forest landowners and forest operators to share experiences from multiple angles, sharpen their skills, and learn firsthand about new options for their tracts. Without a doubt, the friendly environment provided by the entire Shellman team made the difference for more effective and impactful take-home messages.
